Hello, my name is Jacqueline Velez.
I go by Jackie. I was raised in San Antonio, TX! I have a BA in both English & Communication Arts with a concentration in journalism from University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. My educational background along with my professional experience in radio and as a writing tutor, along with theatre are what molded me to be the journalist I am today.
I have worn several hats in various roles including but not limited to writing tutor, board operator, reporter, audio editor, writing editor, features editor, producer, marketing, stage manager, director, assistant director, tech director, stage manager, wardrobe manager, script judge, and newsletter editor. These are just a few of the skills I possess and continue to add on.
On my free time, I meet up with my writing group, Teatro Esperanza, to create personal stories I share with the community. I'm also a poet and have read many of my poems on stage. I am into theatre and have acted and produced several plays. I love spending time with my two cats Poe and Perkins. I'm very Intune with my community and try to help out where I can. I love attending events in my city and truly love participating in anything artistic. I'm always looking ahead to see what the next adventure is. There's never a dull moment in my life. I'm always looking to see what life has in store for me. I hope you enjoy my website.

The Logos Student-Run Newspaper
As a Features Editor for the Logos Student-Run Newspaper, I wrote, photographed, and edited several articles, which earned a spot on the front page of the Logos. My journalistic skills earned me an award.

UIWtv
While attending University of the Incarnate Word, I participated in UIWtv as a news anchor. I have been a volunteer news anchor since the fall of 2016. Below are a couple of news casts I have done as an anchor.

KUIW RADIO
I have been a DJ for KUIW since 2016. In that time, I have had the privilege of interviewing many local artists around San Antonio and Texas. Below is an interview I did with a local musician, YouTuber, & Podcaster, Jules the Human. The interview took place on Nov. 14, 2018. It was one of my favorite interviews.

Script - REDD RIDER
I took a script writing course called Writing the Script. In the course, I was able to write a script titled Redd Rider, a modern day Little Red Riding Hood, with a military twist to it. I updated the script into a screenplay for my English Senior Seminar class in 2019. I went on to present the script at the National Undergraduate Literature Conference. This was the highlight of my undergraduate career. Here is a ten page sample of my script.
